Capture tasks from any app with one keyboard shortcut
You think of something while you're in a browser, a call or a game, and by the time you've opened a to-do app it's gone.
PineTodo opens a small capture prompt over any Windows app when you press Ctrl + Shift + Space. Type the task, press Enter, and you're back to what you were doing. The task is saved without the main window opening.
How quick capture works
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Space anywhere in Windows. The prompt appears over your current app.
- Type the task in plain English:
standup notes tomorrow 9am #work. Chips under the field show what was recognised. - Press Enter to save or Esc to dismiss. Focus returns to the app you came from.
Change the shortcut to anything you like
If another program already uses the default combination, set your own in Settings, Behaviour, under "Global quick-capture hotkey": click the field and press the keys you want. If another app has taken the combination, PineTodo says so and keeps the old one. The shortcut is registered system-wide, survives restarts, and works on any keyboard layout, including non-Latin ones.
Why use a hotkey
Capture works when the friction is near zero. A global shortcut costs about a second and no context switch, so the thought actually gets written down. Everything you capture lands in your Today list, where dates and priorities you typed are already filled in thanks to natural-language parsing.

Frequently asked questions
What is the default shortcut?
Ctrl + Shift + Space opens the quick-capture prompt from any application. You can change it in Settings at any time.
Does the hotkey work in games and full-screen apps?
The prompt opens over most full-screen applications. Some exclusive-fullscreen games capture the keyboard entirely; switching the game to borderless mode resolves that.
Can I use the app without the mouse?
Yes. The prompt is entirely keyboard-driven: open with the hotkey, type, press Enter. In the main window, dialogs support Tab navigation and Escape.
